Sunday, March 23rd, 2008: Cairo, Pittsburgh Trade Made
The rumor has been out there for a while now and today it was made official. The Cairo Leveemen have sent a 1st round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Pisces for 22-year old minor league second baseman Gabriel Deleón, 21-year old minor league starting pitcher Jose Leon, 24-year old minor league starting pitcher David Abarca, 21-year old minor league first baseman David Rosado and a 4th round draft pick.

Monday, October 1st, 2007: Chavez Collects Player of the Week Award
There's nothing like being in the prime of your baseball career -- and playing like it. Just ask Tory Chavez, the Cairo center fielder, who swung a sweet bat all week to not only aid his team, but also pick up the Platonic League Player of the Week honors.

Chavez piled up 11 hits in 29 at-bats, 2 home runs and 6 RBIs while hitting .379.

To date, Chavez has collected 209 hits for a .334 average. He has posted 28 home runs, scored 102 runs and driven in 112 runs.
Tuesday, September 25th, 2007: Cairo Loses Hooker, Will Miss Season
Broderick Hooker has to call it a season. The Cairo Leveemen catcher sustained a season-ending injury against the Miami Masters of Their Domain and will not play again this year according to club doctors. Hooker was injured while running the bases. His doctors diagnosed it as a inguinal hernia and stated that he would not be able to play for 3-4 weeks.

To date Hooker has chalked up a .289 average with 5 home runs, driven in 60 runs and scored 69 times.
