At Sick's Stadium today, third baseman Myles Horne led all batters with 5 base hits, but his Seattle Pilots still dropped the game 6-3 to the Gainesville Purple Porpoises.
M. Horne doubled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
Horne is currently hitting at a .339 pace with no home runs and 6 RBIs.

 | Tuesday, January 15th, 2008: Off-Field Injury Sidelines Mendes
The Brooklyn Bombers will be without the services of Freddie Mendes for a while. He suffered a strained abdominal muscle recently. He reportedly injured it while racing his teammate during practice.
The Brooklyn starting pitcher will be on the shelf for at least 2 weeks.
In his career Mendes has notched 45 wins and 41 losses and compiled a 4.24 ERA.

The Gainesville Purple Porpoises have finalized a deal with All Star-caliber starting pitcher Hernando Desalvo that will extend his stay in Gainesville at least 3 years and will pay out $29,510,000.
Lifetime Desalvo has compiled a 66-35 record with a 3.07 ERA in 152 starts.
